I am embarking on a journey to Eastern Europe following my grandfather's autobiography through Moldova, Ukraine, Hungary, Czech Republic, Russia, Estonia, and Finland. I have recently translated the book from Russian into English and I hope to do some volunteering, interviewing, and observing in the Old Country in an effort to expand my understanding of my grandfather's life and to invigorate the book with energy and insight.
This photo is taken from the top of the Potemkin Steps. The statue of Duke Richelieu looks out down the steps and into the black sea, which you can see if you look closely at the photo. It was cloudy, sorry.

I welcome advice, on any topic from blogging to travel in the former Soviet Union to whether or not I should give up my vegetarianism and eat salo.
